Abubakar Siddique: Holy Eid al-Azha will be celebrated on August 12. Every year after the sacrifice of Eid al-Azha, animal waste becomes a major problem. This year, various initiatives have been taken from two city corporations to overcome this problem. On the other hand, the mayor of the municipality has been directed to take measures to clean up the waste within 5 hours. The concerned officials have asked the concerned authorities to take steps to clean up the waste within five hours, so as to avoid civic problems. Now timely removal of waste is the real thing. The waste of the carnivorous animals causes various problems besides pollution. If it is not possible to remove the waste in a timely manner, it becomes a liability for the odor. City corporations and municipal cleaners also have to get rid of waste. Because of this, it is easier to remove waste if animals can be sacrificed in specific places. Like last year, the city corporation – Dhaka North and Dhaka South – decided to offer animal sacrifices at specific places. A place has been selected for this.

Our expectation that everyone will be responsible in this regard, from the main road of the capital, the waste is spread after slaughtering animals in Aligarh. After sacrificing millions of animals, the two city corporations take huge preparations to clear the waste. The City Corporation’s Waste Management Department was terminated on leave of officers and employees. But even then the waste is not clean. As a result, after the sacrifice a long time the odor remains. We have already mentioned in this editorial column various problems of the capital. We have also brought the matter to the notice of waste disposal. There it is said: “Due to various reasons the capital has become inadequate to live in Dhaka. In the survey of international organizations, Dhaka metropolis is at the top of the list of inappropriate cities. Therefore, it is not only the government, the city corporation or any other organization to make this city suitable for living. The responsibility of ordinary citizens is also not low here. Without sacrificing animals in the alley in front of the house, it would be easier to remove waste as it would be easier to remove the waste as well. We can do it if we want.
It is important that the animal’s waste be removed quickly after the sacrifice. If any time is taken on this, it will be a threat to the environment and not to end the suffering of the people. We expect everyone to be responsible in this regard.
